It is reported that BHP, an Australian mining company, has invested in Boston Metals, a US start-up, to develop less polluting steel production.
Boston metals, led by TadeuCarneiro chief executive, is developing a technology, which reduce emissions by replacing coking coal with electricity during steelmaking.
The $50 million financing was led by Piva capital,BHP Ventures and Devonshire Investors.
BHP has already spent $400 million on research to find ways to reduce emissions from the steel industry.
