[Ferro-Alloys.com] Viking Mines Limited  is pleased to announce the completion of an auger soil sampling programme at the Canegrass and Narndee Projects in the Murchison region of Western Australia.

The program consisted of 415 auger holes completed on a 400m x 50m grid over ~7km strike at Narndee and a further 250 holes on a 200m x 50m grid over ~1.8km strike at Canegrass. The areas assessed were targeted due to the presence of regional structures, lack of prior sampling for gold and, at Narndee, the presence of gold discovered by prospectors1 since Viking has held the tenure. The Company has no additional information on the nuggets collected other than the location, quantity and weight as reported by the prospectors to the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety who subsequently report this information to Viking Mines.

The Company anticipates results towards the end of the quarter with planning for the next phase of exploration dependent on results.

 Viking Mines Managing Director & CEO Julian Woodcock said:

“The targets at Narndee and Canegrass offer opportunities for gold mineralisation beyond the significant vanadium mineralisation that we have defined.

“The region has a long history of gold mining, with previous exploration at Narndee returning gold nuggets in prospector workings.

“Whilst the projects are at an early target generation stage, we look forward to receiving the results later in the quarter and, if successful, defining gold anomalies for follow up targeting.”

Auger sampling completed over 7km strike at Narndee and 1.8km strike at Canegrass, with 665 samples collected for analysis.

Samples will be analysed for gold and multi-elements, with results expected towards the end of the March quarter.

Auger sampling is focussed on generating gold anomalies at Narndee, following up on gold nuggets reported as being recovered from the tenure by prospectors.

Primary focus remains on the First Hit Project and the Canegrass Vanadium Project, but with these additional generative gold exploration projects running in parallel.
