[Ferro-Alloys.com]The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of April 2024, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,356,130 net tons, a 1.9 percent decrease from the 7,499,979 net tons shipped in April 2023. Shipments were up 0.2 percent from the 7,338,349 net tons shipped in the previous month, March 2024. Shipments year-to-date in 2024 are 29,176,345 net tons, down 3.2% vs. 2023 shipments of 30,138,521 net tons for four months.
A comparison of shipments year-to-date in 2024 to the first four months of 2023 shows the following changes: cold rolled sheet, up 4 percent, corrosion resistant steel, down 2 percent and hot rolled steel, down 2 percent.
