VSA: Steel demand in Vietnam will grow by 1-2% year on year in 2023 

According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), the local apparent consumption of steel in 2022 was 22.23 million tons, only a year-on-year increase of 0.81 percent. In addition, VSA expects the steel demand will grow by 1 to 2 percent in 2023. To ease the operating pressure, the local steelmakers are actively looking for export opportunities. But increasing exports won't be easy considering the weak global steel demand.
