Luxembourg-based steelmaker ArcelorMittal has once again increased its European hot-rolled coil (HRC) target, moving prices up by €20/t to €750/t ex-works for remaining second-quarter supply.
The last increase was on 8 January, making this the fifth offer hike since mid-November last year of a total of €200/t.
The rise is underpinned by still-solid demand from the automotive industry in northern Europe and strength in south European pricing, amid recent lower import penetration that has exacerbated supply tightness across the continent.
ArcelorMittal has also moved its hot-dip galvanised (HDG) offer up, by €30/t to €880/t base. Cold-rolled coils are priced €10-20/t lower than HDG, depending on the region.
