[ferro-alloys.com]The European Commission has opened an anti-dumping investigation into imports of hot-rolled sheet steel piles sourced from China, according to the European Union's official journal Thursday.

The investigation comes following a complaint lodged April 10 by the European Steel Association, EUROFER, which represents domestic steel producers.

There are three domestic producers of sheet piles in the EU, ArcelorMittal Belval & Differdange in Luxembourg, ArcelorMittal Poland, and Vitkovice Steel in Czechia.

Sheet piling is a length of narrow, hot rolled strip, typically 20-25 meters long that is profiled during hot rolling, and used in construction to create outer walls in building foundations or harbor walls.

According to the EC, the investigation will encompass sheet piles "whether or not drilled, punched or made from assembled elements, composed of hot rolled corrugated sheets with interlocks that can form an impervious continuous wall." The investigation will cover the period from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018.
