Silicon manganese 6517 is currently pricing at RMB5,900-6,100/mt and RMB5,300-5,400/mt for 6014. High carbon ferromanganese 65 is now concentrating on 5,300-5,400/mt. Medium carbon ferromanganese 75C2.0 with low p containing is focusing on RMB8,100-8,200/mt while RMB8,400-8,500/mt for 78C2.0 as well as RMB8,800-9,000/mt for 78C1.5. Low carbon ferromanganese 80C0.7 is traded at RMB9,400-9,500/mt.

In terms of new round bidding price on alloys for steel mills, the biggest silicon manganese purchaser, HBIS pushed silicon manganese down to RMB6,260/mt from RMB6,380/mt in November, high carbon ferromanganese was lowered to RMB5,280/mt from RMB5,380/mt. Medium carbon ferromanganese 78C2.0 was fixed at RMB8,250/mt while RMB8,350/mt for 78C1.5. Hebeijingye Steel put silicon manganese concentrate on RMB6,260/mt with 15,000 tons. Dongbei Special Steel Group settled silicon manganese to RMB6,400/mt with 2,000 tons from RMB6,450/mt, while RMB5,400/mt for high carbon ferromanganese 65 with 1,000 tons. Taiyuan Iron and Steel Group knocked down silicon manganese to RMB6,280/mt with 2,000 tons and RMB5,240/mt for 65C7.0 with 2,500 tons. Shasteel silicon manganese bidding price was lowered slightly to RMB6,480/mt from RMB6,500/mt. Masteel silicon manganese bidding price was reduced to RMB6,520/mt with6,600 tons from RMB6,600/mt, medium carbon FeMn82C1.0 was decreased to RMB8,700/mt with 1,600 tons and RMB10,750/mt for low carbon FeMn88C0.2. Hunan Valin Xiangtan Iron and Steel silicon manganese purchase price was in line with last month with RMB6,500/mt for 8,600 tons. Kunming Iron and Steel Holding increased December bidding on silicon manganese to RMB6,350/mt from RMB6,250/mt for limit spot supply in local area.

In short, sufficient supply in north areas of China contributed to about RMB50-120/mt downturn for steel mills purchase on manganese products, while the situation seemed to somewhat different in south areas. Given higher cost and limit supply, several steelmakers put bidding in line with prior month or even edge up slightly.
