Metallurgical Si Metal Prices Decreased and Chemical Si Metal Prices Remained Firm in August in China

[Ferro-alloys.com] Metallurgical Si metal prices decreased in August in China. But Chemical Si metal prices remained firm in August. Operating rate in Yunnan, Xinjiang, Fujian and Gansu was about 70%.

Until the end of August, quotations in Kunming were as follows: Un-grade Si553# prices were RMB 200/mt lower than last month; Si553# prices were the same as last month; Si441# prices were higher than last month; Si3303# prices were higher than last month. Si421# and Si411# were much higher than last month.

Export Price of Silicon Metal Dropped, Volume Continued to Increased

[Ferro-Alloys.com] According to statistic of Customs, China exported 474,939 tons of silicon metal in Jan.-July, up by 27% Y-O-Y. Silicon metal export prices were high in July, and export volume was 85000 tons. It was more than other months.

Until the end of August, quotations were as follows: The price of Si553# was USD2,010-2,040/mt, down by USD 60/mt compared to late July; Si441#, USD2,170-2,220/mt, down by USD 30/mt; Si421#, USD2,310-2,330/mt, Si411#, USD2,330-2,350/mt; Si3303# and Si2202# were the same as last month.

Silicon Metal Prices in Western Countries Increased, Asian Market Depended on Chinese Price

[Ferro-alloys.com] In the US, Si553# prices increased to 144-147 cents/lb. European Si 553# prices were EUR 2200/mt.

Japan began to purchase Q4 Si metal. Korea delivered price for Si 441#, USD2,180-2,190/mt in late August. In late August, India delivered price for Si off-grade 553#, USD2,040-2,050/mt;Si441#, USD2,250-2,270/mt. Compared to mid-August,Si553# price increased and Si441# price kept steady.

Metallurgical Si metal prices would tend to steady in September in China. But Chemical Si metal prices would remain firm in September and export prices would increase. Si metal supply would keep stable. In international market, western Si metal prices would stay flat and Asian Si metal prices would increase infected by China.
