It is the largest producer of castings in Europe. The country reported it had 1,111 metalcasting facilities in operation in 2012, compared to 1,159 in 2002.

France ranked as the 10th largest producer of cast components in the world, churning out 1.8 million metric tons of castings, amounting to $7.8 million in value. Its production dropped by 12% from 2011.

Belgium

Belgium reported a 63.5% increase in casting shipments—an additional 29,200 metric tons—from 2011 to 2012.

United Kingdom

In the U.K., casting shipments in 2012 totaled 1,532,000 metric tons, which was a slight drop from 2011. The first half of 2012 maintained the strong production levels experienced in 2011, but most sectors showed a marked decline in the second half, according to the CAEF’s “The European Foundry Industry 2012.”

Poland
