[ferro-alloys.com] Minera Gold (ASX:MIZ) is poised to start the next phase of exploration at the Tumi gold, copper and silver project in Peru that could add another strong to its bow.

Tumi is located just 35 kilometres from the company’s flagship Torrecillas Gold Project and about 6 kilometres inland from the Pan American Highway and Pacific Ocean.

Exploration will kick off next week with 8.4 kilometres of ground-based IP survey over the recently identified magnetic high anomaly and all other known breccia outcrops to test for the presence of sulphides at depth.

Recent magnetic survey work had identified the magnetic high anomaly measuring about 600 metres by 800 metres to the immediate north of the Tumi breccia.

This had also confirmed the presence of extensive mineralization at the main Tumi breccia target in the known outcrops.

Additional trenching and soil sampling will also be undertaken across the wider target area.

This is expected to define drill targets for testing.

Exploration Details

The Pole Dipole IP Resistivity Survey will cover an area of about 1.2 kilometres by 600 metres.

This is designed to assess the existence of sulphide mineralisation under the magnetic high anomalies and also the known breccia outcrops.

It is estimated that this program will take approximately 30 days to complete including technical interpretation of the results by geophysics consultant Lubbe Geophysics in Florida.

Previous magnetic work had identified the anomaly, which is interpreted to be caused by intrusive rocks. It has also indicated the hydrothermal system is much wider than previously thought based upon the scarcity of previously known outcrops. 

A detailed mapping and trenching program has also been planned to be carried out concurrently with the IP survey.

This will further test the know breccia outcrops at surface and conduct all the required geochemistry work in the areas covering and surrounding the known outcrops.

On completion of the surface work, Minera will have a far better understanding of the depth extensions of the interpreted systems via an updated geophysical 3D model and also the potential presence of sulphide mineralisation. 

This model will then be used to define high priority targets for drill testing. 

Drilling will initially focus on two areas of the target:

- The known main breccia system which has two historical diamond holes drilled down hole to  about 100 metres and extensive surface work that illustrates the potential for a large scale mineralised ore body; and
- Additional scout targets defined by the current work program above.

Analysis

While exploration at Tumi is still at its early stages, Minera Gold’s upcoming program will give it a better understanding of the depth extensions of the interpreted systems and confirming potential for sulphide mineralisation.

This will in turn define drill targets that could test potential for the breccia to exist at depth

That previous magnetic work identified four additional breccia bodies provides further validity to the 3D model interpretation that Tumi has the potential to host a very large system containing a number mineralised breccia bodies and also the interpreted associated intrusive target.
